Capitol Post is hiring a high-energy and versatile Operations Manager to manage our startup-accelerator and space at Bunker Labs DC. The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing and facilitating the Bunker Lab DC’s day-to-day operations, programming, member relations, culture/atmosphere, and support at Capitol Post in Alexandria, VA. This individual will be the primary point-of-contact for the accelerator’s members and will work hand-in-hand with another Operations Manager in the distribution of duties, continuity, and consistency in programming.   Veterans and spouses of veterans are encouraged to apply.

Bunker Labs DC is a non-profit accelerator located at Capitol Post whose mission is to integrate military veteran entrepreneurs into the greater business ecosystem by launching scalable and sustainable startups. As the platform for entrepreneurs (both veteran and non-veteran) to overcome hidden hurdles, known pitfalls, and confirmation biases, Bunker Labs DC amplifies participants’ momentum through critical connections to potential customers, employees, advisors, and investors.

Responsibilities:

 Programs

  • Work with Director to manage and execute all aspects of Bunker Labs DC programming
  • Make and assist in scheduling mentor requests for members
  • Film classes and events; edit and archive videos to be added to content library
  • Event Management & Pitch Competitions
    • Assist with special-event planning and organization, including: scheduling, coordinating with outside vendors, logistics, promotional activities, PR, and media related to events
    • Manage applications for the Bunker Labs DC three-round pitch competition
    • Manage pipelines of sponsor, mentor, and judge participation

Operations

  • Create and update policies and procedures for the accelerator’s lifecycle and space management
  • Manage member plans, changes, onboarding of new members, and all other services
  • Maintain mentor/resource/member database
  • Conduct due diligence on potential members and accelerator applicants
  • Maintain and file documents and records
  • Manage volunteers

 Space Management

  • Create a comfortable, friendly, and effective working environment that promotes collaboration
  • Support daily facility-operational needs including reception duties, opening, closing, mail distribution, general tours, and visitor management
  • Manage space and programming communications; including communication to members and staff about visitors, facility functioning, and equipment
  • Manage on-site meetings including scheduling, preparation (i.e. ordering food, making copies, setting up A/V, etc.), provide troubleshooting support, and post-meeting clean up
  • Maintain property and furniture log, maintenance, office supplies, office layout
  • Manage and reconcile co-working scheduling and payment systems

 Marketing

  • Develop, manage, and distribute marketing-related items to include: social media, events, press-related items, marketing promotions, and blog writing
  • Develop and execute a marketing plan
  • Produce 1-2 aggregated news pieces related to startups and innovations per week
  • Build and maintain relationships with both local and national media
  • Create and maintain press kits
  • Monitor and track progress of website
  • Organize photos, photo opportunities, and events
  • Proof written materials for style, grammar, etc.

 Design

  • Create and manage brand collateral
  • Create design projects, including infographics, ads, partnership decks, etc.
  • Research and explore new ways of communicating data through visuals for the site and social media

 Outreach

  • Attend/cover outreach events weekly (may fall outside standard business hours)
  • Outreach to relevant external partners and industry groups
  • Research and interact with startup markets in the DMV for potential members and accelerator applicants
  • Build new relationships with founders and industry experts to help expand and steward our mentor network
  • Conduct research and analysis on companies including, market and competitive analysis

Partnerships

  • Assist Director with various partnership tasks, including, but not limited to:
    • Researching associations, advocacy groups, and corporations
    • Shaping strategic partnerships with organizations that can help BLDC startups grow
    • Preparing pitch materials for potential strategic partners
    • Scheduling and coordinating partner meetings, office hours, events, visits and tours
    • Partner tracking and reporting

 Requirements:

 Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Business or Marketing Degree preferred

Work Experience

  • Experience in a startup, or in the startup community, preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Management and accounting experience preferred
  • Fluent computer skills, including basic troubleshooting and use of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and the willingness to learn other software tools; proficient with Excel, spreadsheet design and management are required
  • Proof of interaction directly with customers to achieve customer satisfaction
  • Previous film editing experience, familiarity with video equipment, and computer with Final Cut Pro (or similar editing program) are preferred
  • Experience with Google Analytics and email marketing is preferred
  • Understanding of, and ability to create, communications for and publish via various social media platforms is preferred
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator and Photoshop, is preferred
